What is an End-of-Life

Doula?

As an End-of-Life Doula, I'll help you prepare so that your end-of-life wishes and preferences are documented.  I'm also prepared to provide non-medical emotional and informational support, guidance and companionship to dying individuals and their loved ones.

End-of-Life Doulas go by many names: you may also hear us called death doula, death midwife, end-of-life guide or end-of-life companion.

End-of-Life Doulas are a calming and reassuring companion with knowledge of the death and dying process.  They are a resource for families who may be overwhelmed during a loved one's last days.  As an End-of-Life Doula I do not provide medical care, but instead work with systems that are already in place such as doctors, nursing home care, or hospice volunteers, working to fill in the gaps in care that may be present.

End-of-Life Doulas can enter at any time during the end-of-life process.  Whether at the time of a new diagnosis, during the last few weeks, or at death, I will work with you and your loved ones to create a plan, prioritize your needs, and assist you in creating sacred space during this time of transition.

Absolutely not!  If you are experiencing death anxiety, want to begin the planning process, or have the desire to talk about all things death, I’m happy to work with you.

Any person who desires to pre-plan their end-of-life medical wishes or memorials.

Any person who has received a terminal diagnosis.

Any person or family member who would like physical, emotional, spiritual or logistical support with the end-of-life process.

At this time, insurance in America does not cover doula services.  HOWEVER, I firmly believe that finances should not limit your access to my offerings.  If you have financial limitations, please contact me directly about the option of working with me on a sliding scale (flexible pricing structure).
